Dr Gael M MacLean FRCS
I graduated from King’s College Hospital, University of London and completed my surgical training at hospitals in London, Reading, Oxford and at the Karolinska University Hospital in Stockholm, Sweden.
I specialise in breast cancer surgery and I am passionate about finding the right operation for each individual patient. I offer a range of therapeutic mammoplasties along with other breast conserving operations. I offer daycase mastectomies as well as breast reconstructive options and axillary (armpit) surgery.
I have published and collaborated on several scientific papers on areas of breast cancer surgery including lymphoedema, diagnosis of lesions of uncertain malignant potential, and therapeutic mammoplasties.
I have an educational portfolio and I am committed to high surgical standards and believe the key to this is through excellent training of surgeons. I was the inaugural Honorary Secretary of the Faculty of Surgical Trainers based at the Royal College of Surgeons, whose surgical standards have been adopted by the General Medical Council for standardisation of surgical trainers. I have lectured on surgical training internationally and regularly contribute to educational sessions nationally to other breast surgeons and for local GPs.
